iPadding across the pond

I am enjoying figuring out the iPad while here in Scotland. I've been able to blog and load up pics with the camera connection kit. So glad I purchased that. The keyboard doc has been invaluable to me when typing on iPages--just faster for me.

Loved pulling out the iPad on the Airlink bus with wifi en route from the airport to my and b in Edinburgh--sweet!

So, it looks like blogger is iPad compatible now.
I am going to try pasting a photo now.

Ain't there yet

Well, the memeo connect isn't all that we want yet. But more good news: they have a new memeo connect editor coming soon. This will allow us to be fully engaged w gdocs.

Bigger question might be about blackboard. Tried the new app, but it says TA doesn't yet support it for iPad. Will have to check with Tom about that. I expect next fall at least a few kids will be rocking these pads.

I am starting to get better on this keyboard. Almost as fast as a real board but more mistakes.

Memeo update

Good news today for collaboration w iPad. Memeo Connect, for google doc, now allows us to download our gdoc as pages and or keynote. Step closer to being there.

“Bag of Holding” for class materials: In D&D, a bag of holding was how we got around the game’s encumbrance rules. At least one party member would have one, and it became the gigantic suitcase we’d have to sit on to close, but it fit in our pockets. Printing out an entire course-load of lecture materials, lecture supplements, lab reports, sports scores, fantasy draft rules, team standings, notes, research materials and cited sources will quickly bulge a notebook to bursting, requiring industrial-strength banding to keep closed. With an iPad, I can keep all that on a device slightly larger than a composition notebook. Plus, I can quickly adjust my fantasy roster when my starting pitcher ends up needing Tommy John surgery.

Full On

In preparation for going live, in Full Pads, we have the blog. The point? To allow us a kwik'n-EZ way to share ideas and links and suchnot. I will bookmark any articles/product info that I deem swell or at least note-worthy with Delicious. Click away.

As I see it, we need to figure out the following:
1. Which apps are essential for classroom iPadding
2. How best to use iPad & Macbook with projector
3. How to best utilize Pages and Keynote
4. How best to integrate Blackboard into the iPad classroom
5. How to sell others on classroom tech.

These 5 umbrellas cover a lot of ground, but there's a lot of rain out there. First and foremost, we have to keep these tools dry, eh? Got any other big umbrellas? Pop 'em in the comments.
